Michael Barasch joins local school kids who are now young adults and coming forward, revealing they’ve battled cancers and lung diseases covered by the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. Michele Hirsch was only 25 when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, one of 68 cancers eligible for health coverage through the VCF.

Michael Barasch has been interviewed on TV and radio as well as in dozens of newspapers, about our NYC personal injury law firm’s work on behalf of the 9/11 community.
Our firm has represented New York City firefighters for over three decades. These firefighters are our clients, and in many cases very dear friends. We have always known that they are extraordinary people. But on September 11, 2001, we understood the full measure of their bravery, their unwavering dedication to each other and to us, and their incredible selflessness.
In our city’s time of greatest need, New York’s bravest did not hesitate. And when they began falling ill from toxic exposure, we were there for them, as we always have been. We worked tirelessly to get them the help they desperately needed and deserved, and lobbied our legislators to expand rights for victims.
Today, we are advocates for the entire 9/11 community, including rescue workers, residents, teachers, students, office workers, cleanup and construction workers, and others who have developed 9/11 illnesses. As the years have passed, the list of illnesses linked to 9/11 exposure has grown. But there is help available. Victims have extremely important rights and are entitled to health care and significant compensation. We are proud of the work we have done on behalf of the 9/11 community, and we remain committed to ensuring that every one of our clients receives the maximum compensation available under the law.
